Wisdom Keepers: Dimensions of Truth

Sara Vatore

Susan McNamara is BACK! We’ve had 3 other incredible conversations on the podcast over the years, and back in February, she joined me for a Wisdom Keeper’s episode where we dove into themes of remembering what matters most.

In THIS transmission of the Wisdom Keepers series Susan takes us into her experience of a recent pilgrimage to Iona in Scotland, and what has continued to unfold since.

So much of what Susan experienced on Iona was difficult to put into words. It lived in the body, in the land, in relationship, and in a deeper felt sense of knowing. What began as a call to retreat opened into an exploration of belonging, spirituality, sovereignty, and what becomes possible when we trust what is true within us.

Susan shares what it was like to enter a predominantly Christian spiritual community after coming to Celtic spirituality through a very different doorway. Instead of reinforcing her familiar experience of being an outsider, she found herself invited into a different kind of belonging, one that didn’t require her to abandon herself in order to be part of something larger.

We talk about listening to the body, following an inner call even when it moves against expectation, and the ways Susan’s time on Iona deepened her connection to the land, feminine spirituality, and her own inner knowing.

Susan McNamara is an author, teacher and creator of the forthcoming Sacred Embodiment Oracle.

Inside this episode, we explore:

  • Susan’s pilgrimage to Iona and why the experience continues to unfold long after she returned home

  • Spirituality as something we can feel and experience, not just understand in the mind

  • Belonging, otherness, and the invitation to “do nothing that separates”

  • Trusting the body, intuition, and inner knowing

  • Celtic spirituality, feminine power, the natural world, and the wildness of the sea

  • What it means to follow an embodied call rather than automatically defer to authority or expectation

  • Moving beyond rebellion and permission into a deeper experience of sovereignty

  • The ways fear can arise alongside the power or truth asking to be expressed

  • How deeply knowing and honoring ourselves can also become a gift to those around us

I hope you enjoy this installment of the Wisdom Keepers series.
